john upChurch 1980-
Born in Fort Worth, Texas, john spent most of his life growing up in Tennessee. He became interested in
writing poetry at the age of five when he stumbled upon his father's collection of poetry books, including
works by Tennyson, Milton, Frost, Poe, Keats, cummings, and Byron. His interest in these works began
a lifelong desire to study the ebb and flow of poetry throughout history. However, when his studies
finally brought him the Postmodern era (the current age), he found it lacking the fire and passion and
hope that he enjoyed about poetry in the first place. Thus, he became determined to change the world of
poetry for the better and make it a popular recreation once again. After stumbling along as a single voice
against the Postmodern world, he happened to find Jos Accapadi on Themestream.com, and the two
formed the New Romantics to attract those who believe as they do.
In his poetry, john focuses on the ironies that exist in everyday life. He explores the highs and lows of
love affairs from his own personal experience, the trials and errors of faith, the faults of personal politics,
and the hope in a hopeless world. His goal is to see children one day enjoying poetry in their free time.
If you met him, you would probably call him a "smartass."
On a side note, he prefers to sign his name with a lowercase "j" and "u" because while he was growing
up, he became tired of telling his teachers that the "C" is capitalized as well.
