Okay, you've read our Mission Statement, and you are ready to change the world one E-mail and one poem at a time. You believe that your poetry can once again make the public embrace poetry as a part of popular culture. You want to be a part of the New Romantic movement. You want to make a difference.

Then do.

First things first, there is no money and less fame involved in being a New Romantic. We are a small dedicated group that wants to put optimism back into the world, but we are facing the giant of the Postmodern era. We wholeheartedly believe that someday we will be a large part in the evolution of poetry . . . but that day is not here yet. If you want to join us, realize that you will face rejection by nearly every critic and judge and even by many members of the public. You may even be called names by other poets as standing in the way of the status-quo. Thus, being a New Romantic requires much work with little reward other than the satisfaction of your own poetic achievement.

This said, the New Romantics are growing. We have witnessed amazing interest by poets and readers alike in the evolution of poetry into an art that embraces rhythm and rhyme as well as free verse and beauty. Perhaps the world is tired of the pessimism and obscure meanings of the Postmodern era. Or perhaps we stand upon the threshold of a poetic revolution. We plan to be the first through the door when it opens.

If you would like to join the New Romantics, first, get together five of your best works in any style. Make sure you carefully revise and edit each one, as we want to see you at your poetic best. Use your favorite e-mail program and insert the poems along with a short biography explaining why you want to join.

Finally, E-mail them to The New Romantics (Please no attachments).

We will review your works and decide if your vision of poetry is in line with that of the New Romantics.

Thank you in advance
